The second week of the season welcomed a familiar group of seasoned anglers, all eager to see what Providence had to offer. With big spring tides, expectations were high for epic fishing, and the week didn’t disappoint.

Day 1 began with mostly sunny weather, and the anglers wasted no time getting into the action. Pieter started strong with two GTs, while Chris, Pete, and Dave each landed one. Drew’s first GT of the trip was a stunning 103cm fish. Kevin had an exceptional day, landing three GTs, with his largest measuring 107cm and taking him deep into his backing. The day ended with Joe landing an outstanding 111cm GT, capping off a fantastic start.

Day 2 brought another sunny day, with Chris, Pieter, and David each landing a GT. Kevin and Drew added two more GTs to their totals, while Pete landed three. Mimi reminded the group that it’s not just the men who can catch big fish, landing an impressive 100cm GT.

Day 3 was a sunny but windy day, making fishing more challenging. However, the anglers were rewarded for their persistence. Marko and Anthony each landed a GT, and Drew and Chris added to their totals, with Chris’ fish measuring 94cm. Kevin continued his success with two more GTs, including a 91cm fish.

Day 4 saw more sunshine, but it was a day to remember for Chris, who hooked and landed (as far as we know) the Providence record GT, a massive 134cm fish while walking the flats. Kevin added another GT to his tally, Marko landed two, and Anthony caught three. It was a day of big fish that set a new standard for the week.

Day 5 offered a low-wind, sunny day, perfect for the anglers to take in the beautiful scenery. Kevin and David each landed a GT, while Chris and Drew added one apiece. Pete landed two more, and Mimi caught another GT. Greg had a successful day, landing two GTs, and Jamie, after a week of effort, landed his first GT and his first-ever milkfish.

Day 6, the last day of the week, brought full sunshine and no wind, making the fish more difficult to approach. While the anglers had many shots, the fish were cautious. Jamie managed one GT, but the group kept their spirits high by landing a variety of other species that Providence is known for.

As Week 2 came to a close, the anglers reflected on a week of unforgettable catches, giant fish, and even bigger smiles.

Week 2 Totals:

  • GTs: 45 (5 over 1 meter)

  • Bluefin: 59

  • Milkfish: 1

  • Other: 79
