The start of the 2025 Providence season brought a mix of new and familiar faces, along with some unpredictable weather. The first day began and ended with heavy rain, with only brief moments of sunshine. Despite the challenging conditions, the anglers showed great perseverance. Timothy kicked off the action with a GT, and Eric landed a nice bluefin, marking his first saltwater fish on fly. Eugene followed with a solid 89cm GT, while Frank caught two GTs and a triggerfish. Tom, Russel, andJoe each landed a GT, but the highlight of the day was Marko’s incredible 127cm GT, a stunning start to the season.
The following day brought clear skies, and the anglers took full advantage. Anthony hooked a yellow margin triggerfish, while Tom added a GT and another trigger. Eugene added two more GTs to his tally, and Frank landed two GTs, including a stunning 105cm trophy. The standout moment came when Shannon landed his first-ever GT, a giant at 110cm, and capped off the day by catching his first yellowmargin triggerfish. Another successful day on Providence.
The sunny weather continued, and the focus shifted to tailing species, which didn’t disappoint. John landed a bonefish, and Shannon managed three. Eugene caught six bones and a triggerfish, while Marko also added a triggerfish to his list. Eric landed his first GT, and Frank completed a flats slam, catching three bones, a triggerfish, and a GT.
The favorable weather continued, and the anglers were treated to an excellent day. GTs made a big comeback, with 17 landed in total. Marko and Anthony each landed a GT, and John had a fantastic day, landing three GTs. Eric, Russel, Tom, Eugene, and Joe each landed two GTs. Tim also managed two GTs, including a particularly memorable battle that resulted in a very respectable bumpy.
The next day, another sunny day offered great visibility, but the fish proved to be a bit more elusive. Still, the anglers managed some impressive catches. Anthony landed another GT, and both Eugene and Shannon added to their GT totals. Russel had an especially successful day, landing two GTs and his first-ever bumpy.
On the final day of the week, the weather couldn’t have been better. John, Tom, Russel, and Joe each landed a GT. Anthony added both a GT and a triggerfish to his tally, while Eugene landed two triggerfish. Tim finished the week strong, landing two GTs, the largest measuring 90cm. After a long chase on foot, William landed his first GT on fly, and Frank capped off the week with an impressive 99cm GT.
As Week 1 came to a close, the tides shifted toward the springs, promising even bigger tides and potentially more epic catches in the days ahead.
